Development of The Aboriginal Healing Space

Following our meeting at The Shire of Carnarvon on the 18th of April, we returned and began developing The Lock Hospital Healing Space element. We were so inspired by the site, The Tramway Bridge Island and the available space, we saw an opportunity to extend the symbolism of The Aboriginal Healing Space into the surrounding bush landscape.

This took the form of a meditation walk Labyrinth in the form of a spiral with The Aboriginal Healing Space at the centre. The inspiration for the spiral pathway comes from one of the most powerful Aboriginal symbols which denotes and meeting place/water hole. Further, the Spiral pathway would be planted with medicinal native shrubs.

Like a bookend, this is the beginning of the Path of Pain which culminates at the bronze sculpture, Don’t look at the islands.
